Nashville and Hendersonville Tips From Our Members Brad, Ron, and Mickey H.

Notes:

-These are just our opinions, not necessarily the views of the Region. Much of Brad's comments are geared to (but not limited to) fours and early sixes, because those folks may not be able to take the freeway.

-The status of restaurants and other venues listed here were updated on 22 Aug. See the small print. Expect differences!

BRAD'S NASHVILLE TIPS:

** HERE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIP OF ALL:  Plan to stay longer than the days of the Meet!! There is so very much to see and do in Nashville, even if you have visited before.  If it were me, I would stay three extra days minimum and do Jack Daniel’s Distillery, Lower Broadway, Time Jumpers, Country Music Hall of Fame, and Grand Ole Opry.

Jack Daniel’s Distillery is open and all guests must wear masks, Lower Broadway best I can tell, limited patrons and close by 1030pm, Time Jumpers appear to not be playing and other acts playing at the venue have jacked up prices by 5 times., Country Music Hall of Fame closed through August at least, and Grand Ole Opry has no live audiences but can be streamed if you are that interestred..

Here are some fantastic things to do:

If you can stay an extra full day, consider visiting the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg. Probably a bit of a stretch for early sixes and fours, but they also have bus tours.

If you have an extra day or a few hours -

My favorite thing to do in Nashville is to visit the area of Lower Broadway. (Printable non Freeway directions)
--Top on that list is the Country Music Hall of Fame closed through August at least.
--The music and fun on Broadway between 4th and 5th.
---Tootsies "open".
---Robert's Western World. "open".
---Eat Ribs at Jack's BBQ "open".
---Eat at Merchant's: Downstair$ Upstair$$$$ "open best we can tell".
---Have a drink at The Palm (Hilton Downtown 5th Ave.) just to use their valet parking… "open best we can tell".
--Rhyman Auditorium Daytime Self-Guided Tours are open
--Johnny Cash Museum (surprisingly good) open

Ride The River Queen General Jackson Showboat is open

Visit Belle Meade Plantation open

Drive through Music Row (19th St)

Visit the Bluebird Cafe closed

For Bluegrass fans - The Station Inn May only be online streaming...

MORE MUSIC:

Time Jumpers on Monday nights (my favorite music in all of Nashville) 818 3rd Avenue South Nashville. Get your tickets early. Must arrive by 6 or you'll have a hard time getting a table. Plan to eat dinner there. Most nights, Vince Gill is part of the group (that's how good they are!).

Grand Ole Opry - The show is very optimistic about opening in June and has a very liberal refund policy if you book your tickets through them and the show is cancelled. Tuesday the 25th and Tuesday 1st Sep are the only shows that don't conflict with meet events. Get your tickets now! The tour companies lock up all the good seats a year out,  but if you get your tickets now, they shouldn't be sold out. Directions

ROCK CASTLE as best I can tell Tuesday through Saturday: 10am - 5pm, Sunday: 1pm - 5pm:  Visit historic Rock Castle, 139 Rockcastle Ln, Hendersonville - Turn left out of the hotel parking lot onto Main St (AKA Johnny Cash Parkway, US31E, later Gallatin Pike) and travel about 1.7 miles.

MICKEY H's HENDERSONVILLE TIPS:

** CENTER POINT PIT BBQ Appear to be fully open. Open at 11am: VERY interesting place and great BBQ (one of Brad’s favs also).  Left out of the hotel parking lot onto Main St (AKA Johnny Cash Parkway, US31E, later Gallatin Pike) continue about 5.8 miles and Center point is on your right.  You pass the Hwy 368 overpass at about 5.3 miles.

MOORE'S SPICY FRIED CHICKEN unknown. expect to be fully open: Left out of the hotel parking lot onto Main St (AKA Johnny Cash Parkway, US31E, later Gallatin Pike) continue about 3.2 miles, turn left on Walton Ferry Rd and  Moore’s is on your left maybe 100 yards halfway down the second strip mall. Note from Mickey H: His hot chicken is the best in the area and the hottest but it is a one-man operation and most of his business is call in and take out and he will tell you that when you order. It will take about 45 minutes to an hour to get your food if you intend to eat there and he has only three or four small tables in a small area. He is very busy and not the most diplomatic person I've ever met...but, this said, his chicken is worth the wait!
